Play Client Requirements & Limitations
Introduction
A Play Client is the entry point for users to access Spaces in Play and view their on-demand content or live stream channel. The two distinctive Play clients available in Appspace are:
- A web-based client - a web browser accessible from a desktop computer, smartphone, or a tablet.
- A media player - a Cisco Edge 340 digital media player.
This article lists the minimum requirements needed to run Play Clients, and the current limitations.
Web Client Requirements - Desktop
The below are minimum requirements for a Play Web Client on a desktop or laptop computer.
System Requirements
Play currently supports the following operating systems:
- Windows 7
- Mac OS X 10.10

The current media player supported by Play is a Cisco Edge 340 digital media player.

- MPEG2_TS UDP Multicast with H.264
- HTTP Live Streaming (HLS)

Limitations
- All supported browsers currently only support the HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) protocol.
- All content from Appspace is not pre-downloaded. Play clients operate in online mode only.
