Managing User Access

The following are three methods you can use to view Spaces on a Play Client:

  • Registered Device Mode

The Registered Device Mode allows users to register a browser or a digital media player as device, for recognition by the Play client. The Play Client then detects the registered browser or player as a device, and provides access to the assigned Space without the need to input user credentials.

For: Digital media players and web browsers.

  • User Mode

When accessing a Play Client, users must input their own Appspace user credentials in a web browser to view the Space in a Play Web Client. Spaces are created within a network. Therefore, all users within a network have access to all Spaces created in their network. However, to ensure a Space is visible to all users in the network, you must enable visibility.

    For: Web browsers.

  • Instant Access

Provides users access to Spaces without authentication. Think of it as having a guest user for Spaces, with the added ability to configure which Spaces are viewable depending on the user account the Instant Access is configured with.

    For: Web browsers.

This article provides the instructions to configure the access types to a Play Client.

Note

Prior to configuring, please see the Play Client Requirements and Limitations article for a list of supported browsers and devices.
