Release Information
The Play 2.2 build is a planned update that focused on optimization, enhancements, and bug fixes. With a release date of May 18th, 2016, this build is for Appspace Cloud.
What’s New
Dynamic Themes
The all new Dynamic Themes tab allows you to set and interchange between ‘Light’ and ‘Dark’ themes on both Web and TV clients independently.
Sharing Channel Content
You can now share content from a Play channel, on a Web Client, by sharing a unique URL link. However, to view the shared content, one must be a registered Appspace user with access to the Space the content belongs to.
Enhanced Search Capabilities
Improved Search function that allows searching keywords within the Name, Description, and Tags fields. In addition, you can click a tag shown under the preview pane in order to trigger a search based on the selected tag.
User Interface Improvements
Play Web Client receives an updated user interface (UI) to further improve user experience, as follows:
- Video content now includes an extra progress bar to display the video’s buffer progress.
- Video content displays a spinner icon whenever the video is buffering, or is abruptly paused due to network issues.
- The video controller displays at a lower opacity when the mouse pointer is moved away from it.
Error Handling
A “500 - Internal Server error” message is displayed if there are connection issues to the Appspace server when accessing the Play Web Client.
Limitations
The Share button is not displayed when playing content in fullscreen in an iPhone, due to restrictions set by the phone’s native player.
