Create and Organize Device Groups

Device groupings allow users to easily manage and locate a collection of devices. Devices can belong to only one group. Groups can be nested in a hierarchy tree. This article provides the instructions to add, edit, and manage your device groups within Devices.

Prerequisites

• You must be one of the following users:
  
  • Account Owner
  • Network Administrator

Create Device Groups

1. Click Devices from the Appspace Menu navigation bar, and click the Devices tab.
2. Click the New button, and enter in the name for the new device group.

Add Devices to Device Groups

1. Click Devices from the Appspace Menu navigation bar, and click the Devices tab.
2. Navigate to the device group where the selected device(s) are located, or use the Search field to locate the device(s).
   Important

   Please ensure the selected device(s) have been assigned with a channel prior to being moved. Device(s) cannot be moved, if they are not assigned to any channel.
3. Select the device(s), and click the Move button.
   
4. In the Assign Group window, select the desired device group, and click Proceed.
   
5. Verify the selected device have been associated and grouped under the desired device group in the main device listings page.
   

Rename Device Groups

1. Click Devices from the Appspace Menu navigation bar, and click the Devices tab.
2. Select the desired device group to rename, and click the Edit button.
3. Rename the device group name, and press Enter to confirm edits. 

Move a Device Group

1. On the Devices dashboard, select the device group to be move in the Groups section.
2. Left-click your mouse and drag the device group to the new location in the Groups section.
   In the image below, the “Product Showcase” device group is being moved to be under the “Corporate Communication” device group.
   

Delete Device Groups

1. Click Devices from the Appspace Menu navigation bar, and click the Devices tab.
2. Select the desired device group to delete, and click the Delete button.

View Ungrouped Devices

1. Click Devices from the Appspace Menu navigation bar, and click the Devices tab.
2. Select Ungrouped Devices to view all devices that have not been assigned to a device group.
