When owners add a SharePoint app to their community they can decide if they want new items created in this app to be posted on the community newsfeed or not.
The benefits of connecting the app to the newsfeed is that users will see new items appearing in the newsfeed and have conversations around them.
If owners want to enable this feature they can access the Community settings > Tools and in the Advance section they will be able to switch the connection on and off.
