Appspace is a scalable, enterprise-grade, cloud-based SaaS (Software as a Service) platform, that enables organizations to centrally manage the publishing and distribution of content to thousands of endpoint devices. Appspace combines user-friendliness with powerful and robust features, enabling organizations to swiftly and securely deploy, manage, and control content of any kind from any location via a web browser. By utilizing our user-friendly HTML5-based Appspace App, we may present responsive content with exceptional broadcast and picture quality.

In this article, we list all devices and operating systems that are compatible or have been self-certified by Partner organizations based on our certification levels as detailed in our Introduction to Devices in Appspace guide.

Important
  • As there are a significant number of devices running the operating systems we support and a range of manufacturing standards, we can only assure the compatibility of the OS and the firmware versions that are actively tested by our partner organizations, as listed on this page.
  • Reference models are device models that partner organizations have tested in their product engineering labs.
  • You may use devices that have similar specifications to the reference models listed, however, we recommend you work with a systems integrator or an Appspace reseller to ensure the target devices are suitable for your deployment type and specific use case. If you do not have such a partner, please contact us and we’ll be happy to make some introductions.

Appspace App for Devices

The Appspace App for Devices supports a multitude of industry-leading device platforms and operating systems such as Android, Windows, etc, that meet different business requirements including playback performance, physical dimensions, hardware features, content delivery modes (streaming or caching), and general workplace experiences.

Designed primarily for the workspace experience, the Appspace App for Devices is ideal for the following solutions:

  • Digital signage on single or multiple display screens, video walls, and media players.
  • Room scheduling on tablets, desk pucks, or interactive display panels.
  • Interactive touch-screen kiosks for visitor invitations, wayfinding, and employee directories.
  • Enterprise TVs for displaying channels and live streams on system-on-chip (SOC) TVs.

Most of these industry-leading devices come with internal storage, allowing content from Appspace to be cached.

Partner Self-Certified

Partner Self-Certified devices are the latest addition to the certification program that falls between Appspace Certified and Appspace Compatible devices. These devices are developed by hardware partners and demonstrate compatibility with the Appspace App.

In this certification level, the hardware partner takes the responsibility of certifying devices for one or more specific use cases by completing a series of test scenarios defined by Appspace. Partner Self-Certified devices adhere to the same standards of quality and performance as internally certified devices. However, it may lack certain integrated functionalities specific to partners, such as unique identification within the Appspace console, LED control, occupancy, or other sensor support.

Additionally, as part of a mutual support agreement, the hardware partner has been qualified to provide application-level support for Appspace on their devices. Hardware partners assume the primary responsibility for supporting customers and addressing any issues that may arise, as Appspace support teams will not have these self-certified devices on hand for troubleshooting.

Appspace Compatible

Appspace Compatible devices represent the initial certification level for hardware partners aiming to introduce their hardware solutions to the market. These devices fulfill the minimum requirements for running Appspace App on approved operating systems.

While compatible devices have not undergone extensive testing, they offer a fundamental level of functionality.

When selecting a device to run Appspace, if the Appspace App for Devices is available in the corresponding app store, it will likely be viable to run on that device. However, some features might not be available on all devices, and hardware compatibility should be considered for tasks such as room booking, IPTV, or displaying multi-zone content.

Support for compatible devices is limited based on the operating system/firmware’s current working version. As long as the OS/firmware is no more than one major version behind the latest version certified by Appspace, support will include validation, testing, and fixes applicable to the OS/firmware level (with limited support for model-specific issues). If a device falls outside this range and the issue causes a major blockage, Appspace will test the issue only against an up-to-date OS/firmware.

The following list is not a conclusive list of devices or operating systems but serves as a general guide for the platform versions that should be running on a reference device to receive adequate support. For a list of fully certified devices and operating systems, please refer to our Supported Devices and Operating Systems article.
