NEW FEATURES & UPDATES

Features Description
Spotlight Search Improvements The intranet spotlight search functionality has been upgraded for a better user experience. The update includes new settings and improvements, enabled by default, which can be customized as needed.

Key Updates:

  • Global Content in Search Results:
    • A new setting allows global content (company-wide Stories, Pages, documents) to be included in search results alongside local content.
    • This feature is enabled by default but can be disabled to focus on local content.
  • Redirect Files to Detail Page:
    • Files in Spotlight search results now redirect users to the file’s detail page, instead of automatically triggering downloads.
    • This applies to files in Communities, Standalone Wikis, Knowledge Centers, and Sites.
  • Disable Enter Key Redirection:
      • A new setting prevents the Enter key from automatically redirecting users to SharePoint search results.
      • Enabled by default, users can still choose to click “Show more results” to access SharePoint.

These updates aim to improve search functionality, file handling, and overall user productivity.

Sort, filter or search within Apps – Editorial Settings  An improvement has been made to the Appspace SharePoint Intranet admin view, enhancing user efficiency by introducing sorting and searching functionalities in the “Editorial Settings > Apps > All Apps” dashboard.

With this enhancement, users can now:

  • Sort Apps by Name: Quickly organize and view apps in alphabetical order.
  • Search Functionality: Effortlessly locate specific apps using the search feature.
Productize Intranet Branding Customizations The latest Lynx release for productizing intranet branding customizations brings essential features that enhance flexibility and performance tracking. These updates are designed to provide users with more control over their local entity identities and equip them with advanced analytics tools for making data-driven decisions.

Local Entity Logo Customization

  • Introduces a new feature allowing local entities to have distinct logos separate from the global logo.
  • Provides flexibility to customize and personalize logos for different branches or divisions.
  • Enhances the ability to maintain a unique identity for each local entity within the intranet.

Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity Integration

  • Enables seamless integration of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity tracking tags.
  • Allows customers to monitor intranet performance and analyze user behavior effortlessly.
  • Provides valuable insights for improving the user experience and making data-driven optimizations.
SharePoint Editor Replacement By Appspace Editor Appspace SharePoint Intranet is transitioning from the SharePoint Editor to the Appspace Editor, as Microsoft will no longer support the SharePoint Editor. This change aims to unify the editorial experience across our platform, providing a seamless and intuitive content creation process. By adopting a single, user-friendly editor, we enhance overall efficiency and empower our content creators while reducing our dependency on SharePoint.

The new editor will be available in the following areas:

  • Intranet Editor in Pages
  • Intranet Editor in Blogs within Communities
  • Standalone Wikis
  • Intranet Editor in Wikis within Communities
  • Intranet Editor in Questions within Communities
  • Questions in Corporate Sites

Additionally, based on user feedback, we will be deprecating certain underutilized features, such as Ideas and Tasks in Communities, to simplify our system and reduce code maintenance.

Responsive Improvements In response to the growing use of mobile devices, especially among intranet users who may experience difficulties with mobile-native apps, we are implementing a mobile-centric strategy that emphasizes both Responsiveness and Accessibility. By focusing on optimizing our interface for smaller screens and improving accessibility features, we aim to create a user-friendly experience that meets the needs of all users, regardless of their device.

Key Improvements:

  • Allow the creation of editor elements and display the Editor in “desktop” mode on mobile devices.
  • Manage Spaces / Corporate Sites settings on mobile with a fully responsive view adaptation.
  • Make Tag Detail popovers visible only on hover actions for improved usability.
  • Improve accessibility for non-group members to enhance the user experience across the platform.
Teams App UX Improvements In the commitment to continuously improving the Appspace SharePoint Intranet app based on user feedback, the Lynx release introduces enhanced integration with Microsoft Teams. This update addresses the need for seamless connectivity in today’s fast-paced work environment by bringing new features and improvements designed to boost collaboration, productivity, and create a more personalized user experience.

New Features:

  • Show Notification Bell: Notifications will now be managed based on screen resolution, ensuring a consistent and efficient user experience across all devices. This feature addresses previous mobile constraints and enhances user engagement.
  • Allow Custom Logo: Organizations can now customize the Microsoft Teams app logo to align with their intranet’s branding. This feature creates a more cohesive and personalized user experience.
Migrate to SPA > Communities

In this release, Appspace SharePoint Intranet transitioned the existing intranet community pages to a Single Page Application (SPA) approach, resulting in a more interactive, mobile-friendly, and efficient experience for both desktop and mobile users. This improvement results in a more engaging interface, speedier navigation, and faster load times, which in turn increase user satisfaction and productivity throughout the intranet. In addition to enhanced performance, the transition to an SPA framework also facilitates the integration of contemporary technologies and streamlines development.

Customer Issues

  • BZP-13142 – Lengthy activity updates do not display the full shared text.
  • BZP-18991 – Copying and pasting links from a published story into Stories results in the addition of the text “opens new browser tab,” but this action does not occur while the source story is in edit mode.
  • BZP-21116 – When attempting to delete the community, a “Request too large” error message occurs because images added to widgets are stored as Base64 encoded data within the community’s JSON file.
  • BZP-21943 – The search functionality on iOS devices fails to return results and automatically dismisses the search window.
  • BZP-22416 – In the Blog Editor, the space before list items is too small, and the line spacing in bulleted or numbered lists is inconsistent with the body text.
  • BZP-22619 – Due to caching, the Hero Preview may not display newly uploaded images for Hero highlight blocks.
  • BZP-23303 – The status of a story does not update on the My Articles dashboard when manually published; it continues to display as a Draft.
  • BZP-23593 – Inactive users or users who have not accepted the Terms of Use are counted as Followers when added to an Active Directory group and Audience linked to a channel or Topic.
  • BZP-24155 – When attempting to comment in a moderated community, keyboard navigation users lacking global admin or site collection admin privileges are trapped; the “Request Membership” button disappears, focus is lost, and the button is inaccessible.
  • BZP-24263 – The Story or Page thumbnail does not display correctly when shared via Teams.
  • BZP-24669 – Bold formatting within quotes on site landing pages is lost after saving, despite appearing correctly in the editor.
  • BZP-24770 – After adding and deleting an embed link box while editing a page or story, the cursor disappears, preventing further content editing until the page is refreshed.
  • BZP-24894 – In Safari, clicking “Reply” to post a comment causes the button to disappear; posting requires clicking again.
  • BZP-24914 – The “Visit Site” button’s appearance is inconsistent between sites and subsites in the Organization structure.
  • BZP-25180 – Users with Administrator, Editorial Manager, and Site Collection Admin roles cannot access the Reports section in Editorial Settings if they are members of Local Entities but not Global Entity, despite having access when Global Entity members.
  • BZP-25196 – On mobile devices, users cannot reorder favorite apps using drag-and-drop in navigation.
  • BZP-25650 – Deleting files from a SharePoint Online (SPO) library generates newsfeed updates even when the “Generate newsfeed updates when uploading files” option is unchecked.
  • BZP-25652 – An “Access Denied” error occurs when setting AssociatedGroups in the CreatePlaceOperation due to NoScriptSite or DenyAddAndCustomizePages settings being set to $true.
  • BZP-25893 – The “Edit image preview” page for a story banner fails to load.

NEW FEATURES & UPDATES

Features Description
New Role Enhancements for Global Admins Global Admins can now control custom Discovery Card creation without affecting Quick Link management by Local Admins. They can also enable or disable default cards individually and manage Quick Link permissions separately.

CUSTOMER ISSUES

  • BZP-26712 – Resolved an issue where screen readers ignored Chinese text in activities or content by implementing language detection and tagging for proper recognition.
  • BZP-26719 – The mute buttons for notifications associated with particular activities do not have identifiable labels.
  • BZP-26475 – Attempting to type words like “test” or “qlik” in Spotlight search no longer causes it to close prematurely; the search remains open, and the search icon is clickable without requiring a page refresh.
  • BZP-26524 – When a user removes a question, blog post, or wiki page from the detail page using the trash bin icon, the activity remains intact. However, if the removal is executed through the ellipsis menu, the activity is successfully deleted, and the user is redirected to the Wiki tool tab.
  • BZP-25642 – The local entity administrators encountered an issue accessing the Quick Links edit popup. The dropdown menu failed to display properly, preventing them from adding or modifying quick links for their local entity.
  • BZP-26659 – The header menu covers the settings button rather than adapting and hiding under the ellipsis when the user applies zoom or uses the mobile emulator in the community/places overview.
  • BZP-26657 – When a table with hyperlinks is migrated, HTML formatting adds extra spaces at the end of the link.
  • BZP-26652 – Screen Reader (SR) currently announces the source code for the Maps or Zoom link; however, it should instead announce the title shown in the snippet.
  • BZP-26784 – The checkbox to handle Discovery Cards should be activated automatically when a new Local Entity is established, but it is not by default.
  • BZP-26576 – The deletion of an answer from the detail view does not propagate correctly, resulting in its continued display across all interfaces, including the detail view, public view, community tool view, and profile card.
  • BZP-26578 – When a user deletes a response from the detail view, they are taken to the community Overview page rather than the Question detail page due to improper code logic.
  • BZP-26649 – The X button has insufficient contrast; when any filter is selected, the contrast between the active close button and the background becomes insufficient due to the opacity of the cross icon.
  • BZP-26570 – Content should not be translated to Simplified Chinese when the browser language is Chinese (Hong Kong) or Chinese (Traditional) since Chinese exceptions were not previously handled and the browser and API codes did not match.
  • BZP-26569 – An incorrect breakpoint in the megamenu causes the custom logo to overlap with the hamburger menu at 200% zoom when it is too big.
  • BZP-26608 – When a user selects a category in the Global Apps tab and then switches to the Local Entities Apps tab, global categories are shown instead of Local Entities categories. If many global categories are chosen, the scrollbar disappears, and the categories cover other widgets because the query for categories is not re-fetching properly.
  • BZP-26566 – The People selector in the Praise section does not align with the browser window, and when users search for people to praise in the Profile Sharebox, the resultant list exceeds the optimal length, which is not the case in the Community or Startpage environments.
  • BZP-25155 – The title, authors, and tags of the SA blog do not update when users navigate through blogs from the “My blogs” dropdown in the User menu, despite the fact that the page content changes. This issue persists until the page is refreshed, at which point the exact blog and its associated content are displayed.
  • BZP-24095 – Adding a hyperlink to text in the Editor causes the tooltips to overlap when the text is selected, occurring in regular paragraphs, tables, Stories, Pages, Blogs, Wikis, and Questions.
