We are excited to share our strategic focus on enhancing and fully supporting the integration of our Intranet app with Microsoft Teams, that was previously developed and shared with some of our customers as a proof of concept.
Over the past years, we have observed a significant preference among our customers to use this pre-commercialized and unsupported solution as a substitute for the official intranet mobile app, recognizing its exceptional functionality.
In the final quarter of 2023, we made the strategic decision to incorporate Team App integration into our roadmap, aiming to ensure its support and address potential risks and dependencies linked to Microsoft policies. However, the execution of this development involves distinct phases and risks.
It is crucial to note, that we are still in a phase where the integration is not officially supported as an Intranet product, feature, or integration. As above-mentioned, our plan involves phased distribution and commercialization of this product integration, outlined as follows:
- Phase 1: Intranet version alignment with previous integration (Pre-Implementation), working in Teams Classic.
- Phase 2: Implementation of technical solution to provide robust integration with Teams Modern.
- Phase 3: Intranet in Teams App official distribution.
We are currently closing Phase 1, where the solution we have developed so far is still susceptible to Microsoft changes, i.e. update from Teams Classic to Modern. A stable technical solution needs to take place in order to better manage our customer expectations and distribution risks. We sincerely appreciate your interest and willingness to explore this early-stage solution, reason why we consider your feedback invaluable in fine-tuning the eventual productized solution.
However, before proceeding with any testing with the solution provided with Phase 1, please take a moment to carefully read and understand the following product disclaimer:
Limited Technical Support:
- Appspace will not be providing technical support during this testing phase. Users are encouraged to explore the integration at their own risk.
- Any issues encountered during the testing period may not be addressed immediately.
- We are actively working towards a more stable solution and appreciate your patience and understanding.
Feature Requests:
- We will not be accepting feature requests for this “beta” version.
- The focus is on testing the current functionalities and identifying potential issues.
- Your feedback regarding any bugs or unexpected behavior is welcome and will contribute to the improvement of the integration towards a more robust solution.
Microsoft Updates:
- Our company is not responsible for any disruptions or compatibility issues arising from Microsoft updates to Teams that may occur during the testing period.
- Users are advised to keep abreast of Microsoft’s updates and take caution when updating their Teams application.
- Microsoft has announced that after March 31, 2024, classic Teams users who haven’t updated to the new T eams will be automatically updated.
- While the integration currently works with both Modern and Classic Teams, we cannot guarantee its compatibility after March 31, 2024. Users are advised to exercise caution.
Limited Rollout Recommendation:
- We strongly recommend restricting the usage of this beta integration to a select sample of users rather than deploying it to all employees.
- This early version may have unanticipated issues, and a limited rollout will help in managing and addressing them more effectively.
Future Stability and Productization:
- Our company is actively working towards a more stable solution.
- Once fully productized, the integration will include support for both issues and feature requests.
- Official documentation will be made available to provide comprehensive guidance on the integration’s functionalities and usage.
