Managing device properties

Device properties allow non-visual settings to be configured for a device. These properties could include things such as screen burn time and software player version. Users can also define custom properties to be used with Event Actions.

This article provides the instructions to add, edit, and manage your device properties within Networks.

Prerequisites

  • Network Administrator

Adding New Device Properties

  1. Click Devices from the Appspace Menu navigation bar, and click the Devices tab.

  2. In the Devices listing page, click the desired device name link to bring up the Device Information window, and click the Properties tab.


  3. Navigate to the last row of the property list, and enter in the desired device property in the respective Property and Value fields.


  4. Click Save once done.

Editing Device Properties

  1. Click Devices from the Appspace Menu navigation bar, and click the Devices tab.

  2. In the Devices listing page, click the desired device name link to bring up the Device Information window, and click the Properties tab.

  3. Identify the device property to be edited, and edit the Value field.


  4. Click Save once done.

Removing Device Properties

  1. Click Devices from the Appspace Menu navigation bar, and click the Devices tab.

  2. In the Devices listing page, click the desired device name link to bring up the Device Information window, and click the Properties tab.

  3. Identify the device property to be deleted, and click the Delete icon.


  4. Click Save once done.

Overriding Inherited Device Properties

Appspace may define system device properties to all device with default values. You may choose to override these inherited (default) values for devices by performing the following steps.

  1. Click Devices from the Appspace Menu navigation bar, and click the Devices tab.

  2. In the Devices listing page, click the desired device name link to bring up the Device Information window, and click the Properties tab.

  3. Click the Override Inherited Properties link.


  4. Locate the appropriate device property in the Inherited Properties window, and click Override.

  5. The inherited property will now be displayed in the property list, where the values may be edited as needed. Click Save once done.

    Note

    Deleting an overridden inherited property will cause it to return to the Inherited Properties list.
