New Features and Enhancements

General

  • The side menu on the Appspace App will be disabled when there are no channels assigned to the device.

BrightSign

  • Added ability to send action scripts remotely to a device by setting the ‘Remote.Enable’ property to true for the Player Property or Sign Property. By default, the property is set to false, which will not trigger any event actions via external devices.

Chrome OS

  • Added ability to send action scripts remotely to a device by setting the ‘Remote.Enable’ property to true for the Player Property or Sign Property. By default, the property is set to false, which will not trigger any event actions via external devices.

Resolved Escalations

  • AE-3080 - A sign with large action script blocks freezes at random points on a BrightSign device.
  • AE-2936 - Enabling closed captioning in a channel or sign causes loss of sound and video, on BrightSign devices.

Known Issues

BrightSign

  • Playback lags if the Appspace App is run on a large datasource script (script block) of about 2MB in size.
  • Appspace App runs into a quota issue when switching between signs with large script blocks, or when switching to a sign with a smaller script block.

Samsung

  • Playback lags if the Appspace App is run on a large datasource script (script block) of about 2MB in size.
  • Appspace App runs into a quota issue when switching between signs with large script blocks, or when switching to a sign with a smaller script block.

IEC

  • Playback lags if the Appspace App is run on a large datasource script (script block) of about 2MB in size.

  • Appspace App runs into a quota issue when switching between signs with large script blocks, or when switching to a sign with a smaller script block.

  • Appspace App does not load and freezes on the splash screen on Cisco IEC devices running firmware 2.6.0, which contains updated browser plugins by Cisco.

A workaround has been implemented to IEC firmware 2.6.0 and above, and would not affect the prior firmware versions.

However, the database only stores logs that are less than a day, and if the database is full, users would not be able to view logs in the report generated via Device Tasks. Although we have a temporary workaround, Appspace strongly advises that IEC devices run firmware version 2.3.4b, which has been tested and verified by Appspace.
